Dream Burger Competition: The Winner

Friday, March 16th, 2012

Two weeks ago we teamed up with Burgerac for a special competition. We asked you to tell us about your dream burger to be in with a chance of winning over £100 worth of fast food goodies.

You sent us recipes, photographs and drawings of your dream burgers listing multiple toppings including jalapenos, marshmallows, unicorns and even Leonardo Dicaprio.

After much deliberation between the Lazy Oaf team and Burgerac, we have finally managed to pick a winner. It was tough but someone had to do it.

WINNER: FREAKYWACKEDKOOKY BURGER BY RUBY BANKHEAD

Ruby says:

My Dream Burger would have all my favourite food in it, starting from my best to least best. So, it would have a strawberry flavoured bun with chips, ketchup, lightly salted tortilla chips, mozzarella (melted and all stretchy and stringy), prawn crackers, Skips, Wotsits, Kit Kat chunky, vanilla milk, Cheerios, noodles, rice, spring onions ,pizza and ending with a mango flavoured bun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’

We picked Ruby’s burger because she’s thrown together some of our favourite things particularly the Skips and Wotsits, we’re definitely going to have a go at throwing crisps into our burgers this weekend. Plus we love her detailed pencil crayon drawing – look at the height on that!

Ruby wins this Lazy Oaf burger bonanza prize above and Burgerac’s limited edition Burgermat Print Pack.

Thank you to everyone who entered, your answers provided us with more laughs than you can imagine and made us feel very hungry in the process.

Keep your eye on the blog for more competitions like this in the near future.

Happy Valentine’s Day: The Winners!

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

Last week we decided we wanted to get everyone in the mood for loving in time for today, February 14th, so we set you the challenge to design a Valentine’s Day Card for that special someone in your life. Your submissions came flooding in and after much deliberation, we have finally picked our winner and runners up based on their originality, wit and great design.

WINNER: ALEKSANDRA NIEPSUJ

“All the love goes to my buoyant, barking in the dark, ex-roommate, who stays secretly missed.”

Aleksandra has totally gone against the conventional Valentine’s card with this design which was right up our street. We love her use of visual contrast mixing this dark illustration with the candy pink background and her witty caption definitely made us laugh.

It was her unique drawing style that really won our hearts and we’d recommend you check out her blog aleksandraniepsuj.blogspot.com to see more where this came from.

Aleksandra is the winner of a £50 Lazy Oaf voucher to spend online.

RUNNER UP: JULIA FARKAS

“I’m sending this card to my Panda with love!”

We were instantly drawn to the bright colours and attention to detail of Julia’s entry. We like to think of it as a kind of modern day, slightly obscure Lady and the Tramp (anyone remember the spaghetti scene?)

RUNNER UP: LAURA CALLAGHAN

This card is for all my fellow singletons to remind them of the heinously awkward social interactions they’ll be avoiding at this time of year-feel smug my friends.

Anyone going on a first date tonight should have a proper look at Laura’s card, it is very true, and also hilarious. We’ve all met a Cliff Fibster in our time. Have a look at more of her illustrations at www.lauralaurapicturedrawer.blogspot.com.

Both Laura and Julia win a £25 Lazy Oaf voucher to spend online.

May we send all of our love to everyone who entered, you made our little hearts melt and you’ve certainly done St. Valentine proud. So whether you’ve got a romantic date with a lover or one with your remote control this evening, we’d like to wish you a happy val day, you deserve it.

The best design will be rewarded a £50 Lazy Oaf voucher and two runners up will get a £25 voucher each. More importantly, all three designs will be posted on our blog on Valentine’s Day allowing you to make the ultimate romantic gesture.

Designs can be produced in whatever format you wish, whether it’s hand drawn, collaged, photographed, Photoshopped etc. You can submit as many designs as you like but remember, it’s all about quality not quantity.

Along with your card design, please also include a sentence telling us who the card is for. Whether it’s your other half, secret crush, dream celebrity or a best pal you want to give some loving, we want to know about it.
